Water Extinguisher
- Suitable for Class A fires (ordinary combustible materials like paper, wood, textiles)
- Label color: Bright red
- Work by cooling the fuel source to extinguish the fire
- Not suitable for electrical, flammable liquid, or cooking oil/fat fires
Foam Extinguisher
- Suitable for Class A and Class B fires (flammable liquids)
- Label color: Cream
- Work by forming a foam blanket to smother the fire and prevent re-ignition
- Not suitable for electrical or cooking oil/fat fires
CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) Extinguisher
- Suitable for Class B and electrical fires
- Label color: Black
- Work by displacing oxygen and cooling the fuel source
- Do not leave any residue behind
Dry Powder Extinguishers
- Suitable for Class A, B, C, and electrical fires
- Label color: Blue
- Work by interrupting the chemical reaction of the fire
- Can cause visibility issues and respiratory irritation when used in enclosed spaces
Wet Chemical Extinguishers
- Suitable for Class A and Class F fires (cooking oils/fats)
- Label color: Yellow
- Work by saponification, forming a soapy foam to smother the fire
- Specialized for kitchen/cooking fires
Water Mist Extinguishers
- Suitable for Class A, B, C, and electrical fires
- Label color: White
- Work by cooling the fuel source and creating a barrier between the fire and oxygen
- Not recommended for fires above a 5F rating (equivalent to a domestic deep fat fryer)

Aim Low: Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire, ensuring the extinguishing agent is directed at the fuel source.
Squeeze the Lever: Squeeze the lever to discharge the extinguishing agent.
Sweep from Side to Side: Sweep the nozzle back and forth at the base of the fire from side to side, ensuring the fire is extinguished evenly.
